A Deba cleaver looks like a Santoku, but the blade is single-edged and thicker to withstand splitting thin bones such as fish bones and thin chicken bones. A common knife in Japanese homes used mainly for fish and chicken.

The largest Deba knife measuring 210 mm. The Deba model has a thicker and heavier blade compared to a traditional knife. The knife has round wooden handles and knife blades in Mashiro's own MBS-26 steel.

Masahiro Traditional series is mainly intended for seafood. Many sushi chefs therefore buy these knives.
